Real Routes. Fake Glory. Good Friends.
Something spooky is happening at APEX Climbing & Spa! We're celebrating Halloween with Spooky Sends, the first installment of our brand-new COMP-ISH climbing competition series.
What's COMP-ISH? It's a competition. Sort of.
Think real climbing challenges, friendly rivalries, ridiculous costumes, and plenty of laughs — without the pressure of official rankings, serious competition, or championship titles.
Whether you're a seasoned climber, a beginner looking for your first friendly competition, or a family ready for some Halloween fun, you're invited!
And the best part? Competition registration is FREE with your APEX Climbing or COMBO Membership or Day Pass!
What Is COMP-ISH?
We love climbing competitions. But we also believe some of the best climbing happens when friends gather around freshly set routes, cheer each other on, and celebrate every little victory.
That's the idea behind COMP-ISH, our new series of casual, community-focused climbing competitions at APEX.
These events are designed to bring climbers together, especially around new route sets, with fun challenges that anyone can enjoy.
Here's what makes COMP-ISH different:
Self-scored: Track your own sends on the competition climbs. We're operating on the honor system!
Beginner-friendly: You don't need competition experience to participate.
Low-pressure: Challenge yourself, not your nerves. The goal is to have fun.
Community-first: Cheer for your friends, meet new climbing partners, and celebrate everyone's progress.
Unofficial glory: There may be prizes and bragging rights, but no official league rankings or championship titles.
You don't have to be the strongest climber in the gym. You just have to show up ready to try!
👻 Spooky Sends: Our Halloween Kickoff!
For our inaugural COMP-ISH event, we're embracing everything Halloween: costumes, candy, creative climbing, and a little after-dark adventure.
5:00 PM — Kids Comp, Photo Booth & Trick-or-Treats!
Our younger climbers get the party started!
Kids can test themselves on friendly climbing challenges, track their sends, and celebrate their accomplishments alongside friends and family.
We'll also have a Halloween photo booth and trick-or-treating fun!
Come dressed as your favorite superhero, monster, animal, or whatever your imagination dreams up. Just make sure your costume is safe to climb in!
7:00 PM — Adults & Big Kids COMP-ISH!
When evening arrives, it's time for the bigger kids and grown-ups to join the fun.
Expect a playful, self-scored climbing competition, fun prizes, and plenty of opportunities to show off your costume.
And as the evening continues, we'll turn down the lights for after-hours glow-in-the-dark climbing!
It's a chance to experience APEX in a whole new light — or lack thereof.
🧗 How to Get Ready for Spooky Sends
1. Register for the competition.
Participation is FREE, but competition registration is required. Be sure to sign up in advance so you're ready to climb!
2. Make sure you have climbing admission.
All participants must have an active APEX Climbing or COMBO Membership, or purchase a Climbing Day Pass.
Not a member? We're offering a special $15 Climbing Day Pass beginning at 4:00 PM so you can join the Halloween fun!
3. Plan your costume!
We're encouraging everyone to dress up, and we'll be celebrating creative costumes throughout the event.
Remember that you'll be climbing, so choose something comfortable that allows free movement and won't interfere with your vision, climbing shoes, or safety.
If your costume is too elaborate for climbing, no problem! Bring it for the photo booth and costume contest, then change into your climbing clothes.
4. Don't worry about your climbing grade.
COMP-ISH is about participation, personal challenges, and community. You don't have to climb the hardest routes or complete every problem.
Try something new, cheer for someone else, and enjoy the process!
5. Bring your friends!
Climbing is better together. Invite a friend who's never competed, bring your family, or challenge your regular climbing crew to a little friendly rivalry.
There's no better excuse to introduce someone to the APEX community.
🎟️ Admission & Registration
COMP-ISH competition registration is FREE, but all climbers must register and have valid climbing admission.

Non-Members: Purchase a Climbing Day Pass to participate.

Real Routes. Fake Glory. Good Friends.
We're building something special at APEX: a place where climbers of every age and ability can find adventure, friendship, and a community that celebrates the journey as much as the destination.
That's what COMP-ISH is all about.
We hope Spooky Sends becomes the first of many friendly competitions where we celebrate fresh routes, welcome new faces, and make memories together.
So find a costume, invite your climbing buddies, and get ready to send something spooky.
We'll see you at APEX for Spooky Sends! 🎃
