Athens has a new gathering place, and APEX Climbing & Spa is excited to help get the community outside and exploring it!
Today, APEX is joining the Get Athens Outdoors event at the newly redesigned College Square, right across from the iconic Arch at the University of Georgia’s North Campus. From 9 AM to 3 PM on October 27, we’re teaming up with REI Co-op and The North Face to celebrate outdoor recreation and introduce more people to the adventures waiting for them right here in the Athens area.
Climb a little. Explore a lot.
What better way to introduce people to climbing than by putting a rock wall right in the middle of downtown?
Visitors can take on the APEX Rockwall, learn more about indoor climbing, and discover how climbing can become part of a more adventurous, active lifestyle. Whether you’re an experienced climber, a UGA student looking for a new hobby, or someone who has always wanted to try climbing but hasn’t known where to start, we’d love to meet you.
And climbing is just the beginning. Get Athens Outdoors is an opportunity to explore the many ways people can enjoy life outside, discover outdoor gear and activities, and connect with organizations that make adventure more accessible.
A new space for community
The location makes this event especially exciting. College Square has been reimagined as a pedestrian-friendly gathering space connecting downtown Athens with the University of Georgia. With new landscaping, seating, lighting, and room for community events, it offers a beautiful setting for bringing people together.
At APEX, we believe outdoor recreation is about more than exercise. It’s about finding new challenges, building friendships, spending meaningful time together, and discovering what you’re capable of doing.
That philosophy is at the heart of APEX Climbing & Spa in Wire Park, Watkinsville. We bring climbing, fitness, coffee, and spa relaxation together under one roof because we believe a full life makes room for both adventure and restoration.
